Week 2
The ups and downs in the weather have provided a perfect case-study for our water cycle experiment; the children have had lots of fun making it rain inside the classroom! The dance rehearsals with the Fit-Liz team go from strength to strength, as the children learnt to perform their routine in ranks, taking it in turns to add in lunge steps and reversals to add even more dynamism to each sequence. In PSHE, they have begun a new unit on Citizenships, learning the difference between laws, rules and regulations, and exploring the benefits to society of each. Similarly, the start of their new science unit was a re-sounding success, as the children discovered how vibrations produce sound in different ways across the different families of instruments. Music to their teacher's ears!
Week 1
The start of summer has brought the sunshine and Year 4 have made the most of that this week in their outdoor learning! On Monday we had a visit from the Fit Liz team, putting the children through their paces in a warm-up for a new dance routine. Already, the children's coordination is highly impressive, with some serious moves on display! With the arrival of better weather, Year 4 were keen to get back out on the track, seeing how many laps they could chalk up. On Friday, the children were delighted to welcome many families into school for a superb carousel of outdoor activities, tied to their personal development. Having helped out on the allotment (tidying, weeding, fence cutting), they turned their hand to litter picking on site and in the community, before paying a visit to the bushcraft area. Best of all, these activities were sandwiched between delicious pizza and tasty smores. Thanks to all the staff and families who made this possible!
