‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Autumn B

Week 4

We have had a lovely week this week. We are starting the preparation for our Christmas performance, we are practicing the songs and rehearsing our lines. In maths we are looking at fractions. We have enjoyed making fact files about lizards and writing a letter home as Stanley in English. In Science we have looked at Evolution and Inheritance. We have researched Charles Darwins theory of Evolution. Have a look at some picture below of our week.

Week Three

This week some of the year fives have been at Robin Wood. Therefore we wanted to make a fun and exciting week for the children left behind We started a DT project called ‘moving toys’ . The  children had to design a toy with the cam. The purpose of the cam was to lever a apart of a toy or rotate it. Please see the children’s photographs below of what they produced

Have a great weekend!

Week One

We hope you had a lovely half term and this half term is seven weeks.

In maths the children have been learning all about prime number. These number only have 2 factors, one and itself. The children have also been investigating square numbers. From square numbers the children where then asked to explore cubed numbers. Times tables have been used widely this week so please keep practising them. Why not test your children's new knowledge by asking them about prime, square and cue numbers.

In English , we have just started our new class text - Holes by Louis Sachar. This is a fantastic read and we cannot wait to see how this text impacts on the children's written work over the coming weeks - watch this space.

Please see  the phase page and take a minute to watch the children reciting Flanders Fields by John McCree. We challenging you not to be moved.
