‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Spring Term A Lockdown

Lockdown Week 6

 Teddy Bear's Picnic

This week we continued our work on bears.  We learned interesting facts about different types of bears in the wild, had a teddy bear's picnic with family, shared photos of our favourite teddy bears at home and listened to bear stories shared by Miss Pritchard and Mrs Trainer.

Lockdown Week 5

We're Going on a Bear Hunt

The children have had a great week learning through our new story "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen.  Mrs Hughes shared the story in a deep dark forest and we joined in with the actions and sounds.  We made our own story maps, counted out food for a greedy bear, used positional language, tried out bear hunt yoga poses and set up a gummy bear Science experiment.

Lockdown Week 4

 Zog

We have enjoyed listening to the rhyming story Zog by Julia Donaldson.  Our learning challenges included finding rhyming pairs, dragon crafts, adding groups of dragon friends together and learning about people who help us - doctors.

Lockdown Week 3

 Aliens Love Underpants

Reception loved this fun and silly story. We have completed activities this week with an alien theme including counting alien eyes, space yoga and designing our own underpants.

Lockdown Week 2

 One Snowy Night

We have enjoyed the story One Snowy Night by Nick Butterworth. Early years have completed Winter themed activities, including having fun in the snow!  We have made woodland animal crafts, went on a Winter walk, made a silly snowman design, Winter vegetable soup and completed a snowflake challenge with a tissue in PE.

Lockdown Week 1

 Owl Babies

I am very impressed with the work lots of children in Reception are completing during this difficult lockdown.  Well done to everyone who is accessing Seesaw or completing paper copies at home.  This week we followed instructions to make owl on toast, bird feeders and told the story in our words using a story map.
