Summer 2 Week 7
We were so excited to receive a visit from the West Denton Fire & Rescue Service! They showed us what special clothing they wore and the specialised equipment they needed to use to help people in the event of a fire or car crash. They showed us the water gauge and folding ladder they use to extinguish fires and taught us how important smoke alarms are. They said that any families who need smoke alarms can call into the fire station and they should be able to provide them free of charge! They even put the sirens and lights on at the end 🚒👩🚒🧯🚨🔥
Summer 2 Week 6
Friday was the day of the great West Denton Talent Show, always one of the highlights of the school year! We were so proud of our breakdance crew and gymnasts 😊🏆👏🌟
Summer 2 Week 4
On Thursday afternoon, we had our Outdoor Learning afternoon where parents were invited to come in and work with their children. Many thanks to all the parents who were able to join us! We helped to pick litter from the school grounds and we dug the beds in the allotment. We definitely have some future gardeners in our class! A delicious slice of pizza from our own pizza oven was one of the highlights of our afternoon!
On Wednesday we were lucky to have a visit from Mary from the Lily-Jo Project. She taught us how to look after our wellbeing by being a HERO: Helping others, Exercising, Relaxing and Opening up. It was lots of fun!
Summer 2 Week 3
We had our fabulous trip to Kirkley Hall Zoo Gardens on Wednesday. We had an animal treasure hunt in the woods once we arrived. We learned about the plants and animals we might find there. After lunch, we got to meet some very interesting animals up close, such as stick insects, a tortoise, a lizard and an iguana. We even had the opportunity to touch them. We visited the small animal barn and learned about rabbits and Guinea pigs. We walked around the zoo and saw marmoset monkeys, a white peacock and some cheeky meerkats! We had a wonderful day 😊🐰🐒🦘🦚🐢🦎
We had lots of fun on our Bee Awareness Day this week. As you can see we looked amazing wearing yellow and our bee hats! We learned how to help bees in our gardens by planting flowers and not using pesticides 🐝🌸🌼
