β€˜A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Autumn A

Week 8

Congratulations as always to this week’s Achievers Award recipients. Well done to Charlie B, Michael, Isaac, Alexander and Ivy πŸ˜ŠπŸŒŸπŸ‘πŸ†

As part of our Attendance reward, we had a mini party with a plate of tasty treats each! Judging by the big smiles and empty plates, this seemed to go down very well 😊

We had lots of fun decorating biscuits to make them into pumpkin faces with orange icing and chocolate chips! We hope they taste as good as they look πŸͺπŸŽƒπŸ˜‹

Week 7

Congratulations to this week’s winners of an Achievers Award! Well done to Reece, Lylah, Harry and Vinnie πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸŒŸπŸ†

A huge congratulations to all of our families as this week we won our *fourth* Golden Ticket* for achieving the highest class attendance within school! Thank you for bringing your children to school every day and on time! πŸ‘πŸ†πŸ€©πŸ₯³

Week 6

Congratulations to this week’s Achievers Award recipients! Well done to Vinnie, Charlie S, Lilly, Isaac and Leon πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ†πŸŒŸ

Some of our parents had mentioned that their children enjoyed using Purple Mash at school and would like to have a go at home on their tablets and iPads. We are therefore sending your child’s Purple Mash login card home. We are encouraging the children to log on independently and we have started learning how to save our work.

We had a fantastic afternoon in the Bushcraft area with Mrs McHatton on Wednesday! We had a wonderful time exploring the Autumn table, the mazes and taking care of the pumpkin babies. We observed the birds and the frog pond too. We loved seeing all the colourful Autumn leaves and how the Bushcraft area had changed since July πŸπŸ‚

Week 5

Congratulations to our children who received an Achievers Award this week. Well done to Tommy, Harper, Carlos, Carter and Ivy! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ†πŸŒŸ

We would like to say well done to our class for winning the Attendance trophy for the *third* time in 5 weeks - a tremendous achievement! Many thanks to our parents and families for bringing your children to school on time every day. This really does make a difference πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ€©

In maths we have been ordering numbers from smallest to largest, using vocabulary such as greater than and less than. We have used rekenreks to help us easily see which number is greater than, less than or equal to another number. A rekenrek is like an abacus with 2 rows of 10 beads.

In Art we have learned about the amazing artist Vincent Van Gogh. We recreated one of his beautiful landscapes using bright colours and visible brushstrokes.

Week 4

Congratulations must go to this week’s recipients of an Achievers Award. Well done to Michael, Jessica, Hunter, Sofia and Theo πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸŒŸπŸ†

In music this week we have listened to music made by a South African choir. Some of us thought the music sounded different to what we heard at home. We learned that a choir is a group of people who use their voices as an instrument! The Soweto choir has toured all over the world.

Week 3

We have worked really hard this week in maths and in our handwriting. In science, we have been learning about our senses and which body part is linked to our senses.

We had lots of fun on Monday in Bushcraft this week. We talked about hedgehogs and how to keep them safe. We even got to make our own hedgehogs out of clay. Have a look at the images below.

In Art this week we have learned about the French artist Claude Monet who loved painting his garden. To try and achieve a similar effect, we painted using cotton buds!

Congratulations to this week’s Achievers Award recipients! Well done to Layton, Mevinu, Daisy, Alexander and Ava πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸŒŸπŸ†

Week 2

This week in science we went on a learning walk to see what we could hear, see, smell and touch. We loved learning all about our senses. In maths we have looked at sorting objects into two groups, looking at the colour, size and even the shapes. Have a look at some of the pictures.

Autumn A Week 1

It has been lovely to welcome the children back to school this week! We have enjoyed getting to know them and we were very proud to win the Attendance Award this week for the best attendance in the whole school πŸ˜ŠπŸ†.

Congratulations to our children who received an Achievers Award this week. Well done to Ben, Arianna, Ronan, Darcey and… the whole class for having lovely manners and trying hard this week πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸŒŸ

Just a reminder that our PE day this half term is Wednesday. Please send them into school in their PE kit consisting of a white t-shirt, black leggings or training pants, school jumper or cardigan and suitable trainers.

Please send your child’s reading folder in every day and listen to them read 3+ times a week. It would be helpful if you could sign their bookmark when you have heard them read. Your support makes a huge difference and really helps them to progress.

Homework will be given out on a Friday and we ask for it to be returned with your child’s name on the following Friday. This will commence next Friday. We ask that you encourage your child to complete their work neatly and in pencil. Thank you for your support 😊
