Spring Term A
Week 6
Love Monster
Love is in the air this week in Reception. We celebrated Valentines Day by making cards for our loved ones and by decorating heart collages. The children enjoyed listening and watching the "Love Monster" by Rachel Bright and decided to draw pictures of the Love Monster during plan to play. It was lovely to see so many parents attending the maths workshop this week, I hope you all found it useful to continue to develop the children's love for learning at home.
Attendance Trophy
Well done team, we did it again! 98% attendance this week which is amazing. Lets try and get it to 100% next time. Have a lovely week off and I look forward to hearing all about it on the 28th February.
Week 5
Oi Frog
This week the children have worked so hard to understand rhyming words. This is a difficult concept for the children to understand. However, they have done a great job identifying them and also writing sentences to match pictures from the story "Oi Frog" by Kes Gray and Jim Field.
Week 4
Cinderella
The children enjoyed listening to the traditional tale of Cinderella this week. We all became fashion designers by designing and making our Barbie's new dresses to go to the Prince's ball. Before the children made their dresses they had to draw and label their designs using their fantastic phonics knowledge and they did an amazing job, I'm sure you would agree.
Week 3
Six Dinner Sid
What a fun and busy week we have had in reception. We read the book "Six Dinner Sid" by Inga Moore and discussed the different ways our pets sleep and eat at home. We used our amazing phonics knowledge to write sentences to describe Sid from our story. The children also enjoyed a visit from the Dogs Trust, we learned how to look after dogs and how to keep them safe in our homes.
Week 2
The Chinese New Year
This week the children have been learning all about Chinese New Year and how people celebrate it. We looked at Chinese traditions, taste tested Chinese food and made dancing dragon puppets. In our story "The Chinese New Year" by Joanna Troughton we found out how the animals decided who the new year will be named after.
Attendance Award
Well done team, we did it again!
Best attendance in the school for a third week in a row. Let's keep it up!
Week 1
Squirrels New Years Resolution
It was lovely to welcome all the children back to school on Monday after their Christmas break and by listening to all their stories it is clear that you all had an amazing time. This week Reception have been reading "Squirrels New Years Resolution" by Pat Miller. The children enjoyed the story and learned what it means to make their own New Years resolutions. We even used our super phonics knowledge to write our resolutions in our Literacy books.
Attendance Award
Amazing news for Red Room Reception class!
We were presented with the attendance award this week for 100% attendance and best attendance in the school by Mr MingStones. Well done and lets keep it up to get more treats and surprises.
Dice Game
The children have started to use their subitising and dice pattern knowledge to play dice games. The children had a lot of fun with this and want to continue to play more dice games in their plan to play time.
