Spring Term A
Week 1
Café
The role play area has been transformed into a café area with different roles for the children to take on. Two chefs, a waitress/waiter and some customers. The adults supported the children to carry out the tasks and understand the roles, developing their language and communication skills.
Week 2
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
The children enjoyed this familiar traditional tale and loved joining in with the story, remembering the repeated refrains. They used masks to re-enact the story using different voices for each character.
They all tasted porridge and recorded if they liked it or not using a pictogram in small groups. Most of the children had a try and liked it, even wanting seconds!
Week 3
Chinese New Year
The cafe area has been changed into a Chinese restaurant this week. The children tasted noodles and prawn crackers. They then recorded their likes and dislikes.
Nursery developed their scissor control by making a Chinese lantern and mark making skills to decorate a dancing dragon.
We all learned to sing a new Chinese New Year song together.
Week 4 and 5
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
The children have enjoyed and explored this classic story which is always a favourite.
We made some fabulous pictures for a wall display including large collage caterpillars, small printed caterpillars and symmetrical painted butterflies.
Nursery talked about and produced the life cycle of the butterfly and made some delicious fruit kebabs.
