Summer Term B
Week 5
This week the children have enjoyed being outdoors. On Tuesday we practised races for sports day. On Thursday Phase 1 had an outdoor learning morning with the parents. The children got to share a morning doing litter picking, working in the allotments and cooking over the fire in the bush craft area. On Friday the whole school went to Newbiggin by the Sea. The children had a great day building sand castles and playing in the sea.

Week 4
Yet another busy week in the class. In Maths the children have been partitioning two digit numbers into tens and ones, ordering numbers to 100 and solving the missing numbers challenge. In English we the children have been learning about the importance of staying safe in the sun and have created an information leaflet. The class had a great time constructing a model beach shelter and testing which material was the best to make it waterproof. On Wednesday we held auditions for the school talent show and it was great to see some of their talents.

This week the children have worked very hard in class. In Maths we have been focusing on place value and partitioning two digit numbers. In Science we have continued to learn about everyday materials. On Thursday the class had a fantastic visit to the Laing Art Gallery. The children took part in a workshop and learnt about how to sculpt an abstract person from clay.

Week 2
It has been another busy week in class this week. The children have enjoyed listening to the Enormous crocodile story and writing about the clever tricks the crocodile gets up to. We have described his appearance and created a front cover for the book. In Maths we have been learning about direction and position. In Science we have started a new topic about materials. The children have got hands on with a variety of materials in class. On Thursday we went for a walk around our key stage areas to find objects and then identify the material it was made from. In P.E we have continued to practice throwing and catching.
Week 1
In class this week the children have been finding a quarter of a shape and an amount. In English we have been doing some creative writing, describing a forest scene. In P.E. the children enjoyed practising their ball skills, including bouncing and catching and throwing and catching with a partner. In the PSCHE lesson the class have been talking about different emotions and what each emotion looks like.
