PSHE Intent, Implementation and Impact
Personal, Social and Health Education with Citizenship
Personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) is an important and necessary part of all pupils’ education. At WDPS, we use our PSHE curriculum to equip pupils with a sound understanding of risk, and with the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe and informed decisions.
Our curriculum is underpinned by the WDPS Core Values (‘Attitudes to Promote’ and ‘Learner Profile’) which help create a rich, balanced and broadly based curriculum. This ensures we provide a rich tapestry of experiences for our children.
The WDPS Life Skills Challenge modules including WDPS Bushcraft and the Life Skills Challenge Award (LSCA) scheme promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of our pupils. It prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
The WDPS Life Skills Challenge Award (LSCA) has been created by Head Teacher (Mick MingStones) for West Denton Primary School children so that they can develop skills, attitudes and knowledge to achieve all that they can in life.
At West Denton we have adapted the PSHE Association programme of study to suit our pupils. We support the teaching of this with the 1Decision online Scheme
