Summer B
Week 7
What a busy last week we have had. We have had our trip to Northumberland Zoo, we came third in the talent show, we have danced the day away at our class party and finally we have won the class of the week attendance for this half term.
You Got a Friend in Me
Week 6
The children really enjoyed making their own tin foil boat to test their strength on the water. Once the children had created their boats we put them on the water and tested them to see how many pennies they could hold before they sank.
Euros
This week the children have been getting excited about the football and cheering on England. We learned the songs, played with football characters and laced up football boots to develop our fine motor skills. We also had a competition to design the best football strip, we had some amazing entries.
Week 5
This week the children have been working in pairs to create their own repeating patterns and secured their knowledge of positional language.
Week 4
This week the children had lots of fun making their own decorative flowers to put on our seasonal tree. They used their fine motor skills to separate the layers of tissue paper to make the petals.
Week 3
Farmer Duck
We listened to the story of poor "Farmer Duck" by Martin Waddell. He works hard on a farm all day and all night, while the Lazy Farmer lies in bed and eats chocolate. However, by the end of the story the Lazy Farmer gets his comeuppance when the other farm animals decide to teach him a lesson!
Number Formation
Odd or Even
Week 2
Descriptive Writing
This week we have been reading the story "Handa's Surprise" set in Kenya. The children tasted tropical fruits and developed their descriptive language. We wrote a riddle and described what our chosen fruit looks, tastes and feels like.
Handa's Surprise Fruit Salad
Cycling
This term Mrs Williams will be delivering cycle coaching in our Reception class. The children loved their first session using a balance bike and lifting their feet.
Week 1
Peepo!
This week the children looked at some objects that could be found in a Victorian day house. We discussed the differences between the old artefacts to the objects we use today in the house.
The children have been practicing their caption writing this week. It is amazing to see their progress shining through.
Rekenreks
This week the children have been introduced to rekenreks in maths. Rekenreks are similar to an abacus and we have been learning how to use them.
We know that instead of counting each bead across, we can subitise (instantly look at a number of objects and recognise how many there) and move a number across at the same time. We have been practising this subitising by putting our finger in the correct place and moving the beads across together. We can confidently do this and have achieved and demonstrated this in just a couple of lessons!
