‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Summer Term B

Week 7

And that's it! What a great last week. Thank you to all the parents who came to see the leavers assembly and enjoyed a slice or two of pizza. We had a brilliant trip to Lightwater Valley on Tuesday that wasn't spoilt by the rain.

Goodbye Year 6. You have been an absolute pleasure to teach  and we have loved getting to know you all too. We know you will do your very best in secondary school and we collectively would like to wish you all the best for your very promising futures.  We are so proud of you.

Week 6

Sports day colour run was a huge hit! Thanks to all the families who joined in to make it extra special. The children had a blast.

It’s also been an important week of transitions where the children had a taster day of their choice of secondary school. We hope you all enjoyed your days and hope it has replaced any nerves with excitement for your next journey. We know you are ready and will thrive in your new schools.

Week 5

What a great week! It started with a residential for some of our children while the rest stayed at school and practiced the play and made some art using compasses. Then on Thursday we performed our play, twice. I hope you’ll agree the children were amazing especially as some of them were pretty tired from the residential. On Friday we had our whole school beach trip which was a brilliant day to end the busy week.

Week 4

We’ve had a lovely day today for our Phase 3 Parents Day celebrating life skills. We did a litter pick followed by pizza in the allotment area. Thank you to all the parents who came and joined in to make the day the success it was.an d huge thanks to Mrs McHatton for organising it.

This week our year 6 pupils also enjoyed the fourth of their mountain biking sessions. We learnt about points of contact and how reducing the number of them (e.g. by taking a hand off the handlebars) can affect balance.  We practised high fiving one another and passing a bottle between pairs, as well as trying to get it either in a bucket or standing on a box.  It is great to see how our pupils' confidence on a mountain bike is progressing week on week.

Week 3

This week we have been practicing for our Year 6 End of Year play. Roles have been cast, lines are being learnt, it's all very exciting. Can you please help your child with any lines they may be struggling with, and we will be sending home a slip of paper containing their costume ideas. Please don't buy anything specially, and if you are struggling let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate. We can't wait for you to see it.

Week 2

This week we have been doing LOTS of writing. The children have focused well and produced some lovely pieces.

This half term year 6 have the fantastic opportunity of improving their mountain biking skills through a series of coaching sessions with Ben of Skaife CC MTB Coaching.  All the pupils enjoyed learning how to navigate ramps safely; they also had fun playing games such as King/Queen of the Ring.

Week 1

Welcome back to the last half term of the academic year. We've had a great start to this term with a trip to RGS for a computing module where we programmed robots to move and complete different challenges. On Thursday, we went Kick Sampling with Mrs. McHatton to the River Derwent. The children enjoyed going in the water and seeing what they could find. And no on fell in which was a bonus. See the photos in the gallery below.
