Autumn A
Welcome to West Denton Primary School
Hello Parents
We are thrilled with how well your children have settled in Nursery and we hope that you are too. We have a few tears still during these early days, but rest assured it's brief and your children are having a lovely time. The staff are all here to make sure they have a fabulous day and give lots of comfort when needed.
Here are a few pictures of the fun they are having and the new friendships they are making.
We will share snapshots of our learning here across the year. During induction visits the Nursery children have been learning routines and how to use the classroom equipment. They explored the indoor and outdoor environments, stayed for lunch and have been making new friends. All of the children have settled in very well and we are looking forward to a fun filled year! Have a look at some of the things we have been up to ...
Conkers
The children have been investigating conkers, learning their name and where they came from. They enjoyed exploring using their senses and were encouraged to share their discoveries. They had fun using the tongs and tea-strainers to collect and make mathematical estimations about how many they had. They used language such as, "more, lots, loads and a few"
Spaghetti Exploration
The children pulled and tugged at the long coloured strands and felt the texture of the spaghetti with their fingers.
Plan to Play Fun
The children are building in confidence. During play children explore their own ideas, learn how to use resources and use imagination and creativity.
Spooky Play
Nursery had a spooktacular play session. The children took part in lots of Halloween themed activities such as making potions using lots of gruesome ingredients, painting scary decorations and sensory pumpkin exploration.
Halloween Party
Our Halloween Party was a blast! Party food, dancing and games made our classroom celebration lots of fun! There were some amazing costumes this year too!
ZooLab
We had a fantastic visit from Rob the wizard who brought us some interesting animals for us to look at and touch. We listened to the story of '"Zoo on the Broom" about a friendly witch Zog. She rode on her broomstick through towns, forests and a bog. The helpful kind witch offers a ride to animal hitchhikers, who we got to meet. We were introduced to many exciting creatures including a tarantula, snake, giant snail, rat and even a hissing cockroach. The children were very excited and fully engaged, not to mention brave.
