Autumn Term A
Week 7
This week, Year 5 have started getting to grips with a new reading computer program called Reading Plus. The web based resource creates a bespoke approach for each child. The children were buzzing and totally engaged. Your child can access this at home as well as in school. Their login is their first name and first letter of their last name. For example, John Brown would be JohnB. The children’s password is qwerty and the site code is rpwestd3. Please try this out over the holidays at http://student.readingplus.com/seereader/api/sec/login. Good luck!

Allotment and Edible Garden
Our children have been working really hard in our allotment and 'Edible Garden' area weeding, watering, and digging over beds ready for replanting. We also worked in teams to build secure dens in our bushcraft area.
Week 1
Bushcraft - Loose Parts and Den Making
Our children in Year 5 have been in the bushcraft area working on their mental wellbeing and life skills. They made transient art pictures about things that mean a lot to them, using natural loose parts. In teams they built dens and made up their own games.
Gardening
In our allotment and edible garden, the Year 5 children have been taking responsibility for their own safety, whilst using tools to weed the garden patches. They have also enjoyed finding mini beasts and trying some of the fruit that has flourished.
