Summer Term A
Week Three
Even though the children have only been in school four days, we have still been very busy and it feels as though we have fitted five days into four. What have we been up to, I hear your ask?
In English, the children are really gripped by our class text - Clockwork by Philip Pulman. There is a darker side to this novel. The children have been 'PEE' ing (Point, Evidence and Explaining) about a key character as well as writing instructions for looking after Sir Ironsoul.
In Science, the children have been exploring evaporation as well as discussing real life examples.
The highlight of the week was celebrating the imminent coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camila. The children have made their own crowns, learned the National Anthem and the whole were treated to an ice-cream when Bob brought his van into school.
We certainly did nto let the British weather spoil our day of celebrations.
Enjoy another bank holiday weekend.
Kind regards

Week Three in Photos
Week One and Two
Where have the first two weeks gone and what have Year 5 been up to?
Enjoy the children reading their version of 'The Piano'.
In Maths, the children found decimals tricky but being allowed to write on their and manipulate place value counters made all the difference.
The children are really enjoying the basketball unit in PE. Get them to explain 'double dribble'.
The children are working as designers and engineers too. They are applying work in Science to design and build bridges. From testing desks last week to adding trusses this week.
Enjoy the bank holiday weekend!
