Autumn A
Week 8
On Monday the class had a fantastic visit to Washington Wetland Centre. The children enjoyed exploring the centre and having fun in the woods, learning about the environment, birds and otters. They also had fun at the end of the day in the park. In English the children have been describing the witch from Room on the Broom. In Maths the children have started to find number bonds to 10 and related facts to 100. On Tuesday the class had their final Music workshop Story Makers and enjoyed learning a new spooky song. On Thursday the whole of phase one had fun at the spooky disco. We have continued to look at what is History and looked at photographs from holidays in the past, creating a time line and sorting into the past and now.

Week 7
In English the children have been matching rhyming words from the story Room on the Broom. We have also answered questions about the story to show understanding of what has been read. The children had fun going on a verb hunt in the classroom. In Maths the children have started to learn about part part whole and addition. On Tuesday the class had their Music workshop Story Makers and enjoyed learning a new spooky song. In P.E the children have continues to practice their sending and receiving skills. In Art the children went outside to create some natural art pictures with Miss Croll. We have started a new topic in History, What is History and looked at photographs from earlier in the children's lives.

Week 6
In English the children have been writing sentences about our favourite part of the Deep Dark wood story and created a story map of the story. In Maths the children have completed a Maths quiz to show how much they have learnt and know. On Tuesday the class had their Music workshop Story Makers and enjoyed playing the percussion instruments. In P.E the children have continues to practice their sending and receiving skills. In computing we have been focusing on how to stay safe whilst online. We have continued to chare our favourite books in class.

Week 5
In English the children have been writing sentences about a deep dark wood focusing on capital letters and full stops and describing the characters. In Maths the children have been comparing numbers and amounts focusing on more than, less than and equal. The year children have been learning how to count in twos, fives and tens. On Tuesday the class had their Music workshop Story Makers and enjoyed learning a new song and played the percussion instruments. In Science we investigated the importance of hygiene and keeping ourselves healthy.

Week 4
In English the children have been ordering and writing sentences about a deep dark wood focusing on capital letters and full stops and describing the wood. In Maths the year two children have been estimating numbers on a number line and the year one children have been counting backwards and finding one less. On Tuesday the class had their second Music workshop Story Makers and enjoyed exploring the percussion instruments. In Science we felt our heart rates before, during and after exercise in our P.E. lesson .

Week 3
In English the children have been ordering and writing sentences about the characters from the Three Little Pigs story, focusing on capital letters and full stops. In Maths the year two children have been partitioning into tens and ones and the year one children have been finding numbers one more and one less. On Tuesday the class had their first Music workshop Story Makers and enjoyed learning and singing a new song. In Science we have looked at what are healthy and unhealthy foods and measured the feet of children in different year groups and recorded in a black graph. In P.E the children have been learning how to send and receive using a ball.

Week 2
The children have worked hard in Maths counting amounts and making two digit numbers with deines. In English the children enjoyed acting the story of The Three Little Pigs and labelling the characters and items from the story. The children have also been learning about capital letters and practising their letter formation and common exception words. We have also started a new Science unit, Animals including Humans. The children have been sequencing a life cycle of a human and matching the young of the animal to the adult.

Week 1
Welcome back everyone!
The children have settled into class and the routines of school this week. They have worked hard in maths ordering numbers to 20 and counting amounts. On Wednesday afternoon the class listened to a music performance of the piano and cello. They enjoyed pieces including the sound tracks from Harry Potter and Star Wars. On Thursday the year 1 children took part in a snuggle and read with their parents, enjoying the time to share a story in school. We are also encouraging the children to bring their favourite story into class and share it. They have enjoyed seeing their friends and catching up after the summer break.
The children will have P.E. every Friday and will need their P.E. kit on when they come to school.
