Week 6
The children have been working very hard this week in class. In Maths we have ordered amounts of liquid and compared the capacity of different containers. In English the children wrote instructions on how to plant a seed. In R.E we have looked at and written about the Easter story. The children enjoyed P.E on Monday and learning more of their dance routine. On Tuesday the class had an amazing time at Gibside. During the visit the children had the opportunity to get a closer a look at plants and trees, identifying native trees and plants. They enjoyed being outdoors and letting off steam at the park. On Wednesday the class created their Easter cards with Mrs McHatton.

Week 5
On Monday this week the children enjoyed Street Dance in P.E, learning a new dance routine. In Maths we have been learning how to measure weight using the balance scales and unifix cubes, getting the scales to balance. In Science the children have continued the topic of Plants. They have sorted leaves into evergreen and deciduous and labelled the parts of a tree. On Thursday we planted cress seeds in compost and cotton wool to see which would grow best.

Week 4
Yet another very busy week in class. The children have worked incredibly hard during lessons this week. In Maths we have been learning how to use ruler to measure in cm's. They had a lot of fun measuring their feet and hands to see who had the longest. In Science the class have been learning about the different parts of a plant. They have also learnt about common British plants and identified them by name. In English the children have written a Spring Shape poem using similes and alliteration.
Week 3
This week the children have been comparing the height and length of objects in Maths. The class enjoyed Street Dance on Monday and have continued to put together a dance routine. In Geography the children have continued to improve their mapping skills. They have learnt about the four countries that make up the UK. They had fun creating their own map of the seven continents and using an Atlas to find them. The class enjoyed Red Nose Day and dressing up as their favourite super hero.

Week 2
This week in class the children have worked incredibly hard. In Maths we have been learning to count in 5s. On Monday they enjoyed street dance in the hall. On Wednesday some of the class were lucky enough to visit Washington Wetland Centre and got to observe a variety of birds. In school the remaining children had an environment day, where they planted seeds, had a nature walk, went on a scavenger hunt and a mini beast hunt. They also created their own nature necklaces. This week in Geography we have continued learning about maps and how to use an atlas as well as learning the points on a compass.

Week 1
This week the children have been working very hard in class. In Maths the children have been grouping amounts in twos and have been
practicing hard counting in twos. Our new topic in Geography is Magic Mapping where the children are learning about maps and how to use an atlas. It was World Book Day on Thursday and the class enjoyed a fun filled day of activities related to stories in their costumes.
