‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Summer Term A

Week 6

We were so proud of the children when we took them to Washington Wetland Centre. They met Ava, half girl, half bird and helped her to fly. They had a wonderful time watching feeding time with the otters and flamingos. The staff complimented the children on their excellent behaviour. The children finished the day with lots of fun in the park.

Week 5

The children have worked hard this week on their ‘Secret Agent Training’ and even showed the ‘Secret Agent’ visitor how hard they have been working. They have written their own version of The Dragon Machine and written a letter from one of the dragons. In maths, they are becoming super time tellers, please encourage your child to continue practising telling the time. In geography they have been learning what rural, coast and urban means. In art, they have produced some super observational drawings.

Week 4

The children have worked hard this week gathering the results of their cress growing, they have continued working on The Dragon Machine and have begun working on telling the time.

Week 3

Wow what an amazing day we had celebrating the King’s Coronation! The children looked wonderful in their red, white and blue outfits.

In the morning, they had great fun designing and making their crowns and decorating their picnic bags. At lunch they enjoyed their picnics. They began the afternoon by choosing their ice cream/lolly, enjoying party games in the hall and ended the day joining the rest of the school in the hall. The children sang a rousing rendition of the national anthem while showing off their crowns. We have are all enjoyed a wonderful day together.

Week 2

What a busy week in Year 2. The children have been on a dragon hunt and have written ‘Aguirre to spotting dragons’ for the teachers who can’t see them. They have been working hard working out quarters and thirds in Maths and in Science they have set up an investigation to see what cress needs to make it grow well.

Week 1

It was lovely to see the children after their 2 week Easter break and hear their holiday news.

They have settled straight back into work. They have enjoyed writing instructions for making a pizza and calculating fractions. We have begun our Plants science unit and we are busy observing our seeds as they germinate.
Please continue your support with hearing your child read and reminding them to bring their book bag everyday.
