Summer B
Week 7 The Final Week of Primary School
WOW! What a week! It started with a brilliant day at Lightwater Valley, a huge highlight for us all, and ended with a fantastic leavers event of ‘The Video’ and pizzas from the pizza oven. We are so proud of our young people, they have done so much growing over this last year and it’s been a pleasure to watch. We wish you all an amazing six week break and all the success to our young people in their secondary school journey. We know you’ll be ace.
Week 6
We enjoyed our last session of mountain biking coaching this week. A challenging skills loop enabled us to put all the skills we have learnt over the half term to the test. At the end of the session we played our favourite game - “Ruler of the Ring.”
Week 5
WOW! Weren’t they brilliant! Huge well done to all our performers. All the children stepped up and overcame their nerves to give an absolutely AMAZING performance of Peter Pan. They all shone and you could see just how much effort everyone put into giving the best performance they could. Well done Year 6!
In other news, 10 children were selected to join in with an IT session at a local school where they got to program Sphero to navigate around a track we and other school created. It was a lovely morning and we all had so much fun. See the photos below.
Week 4
The props and preparations are well under way for our Year 6 play. The children have been working so hard learning their lines and are really starting to get into character. Below is a sneak peak at some of the props, see if you can spot them in the show.
The children have also been enjoying their mountain bike riding sessions. See their progress below in the gallery.
Week 3
We have started our new text call Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. The children had to make a map of the island based on the description given in the book. On Wednesday, we attended a careers fair at a logical school and we were impressed with the questions the children asked. On Thursday, we learned how to help each other in an emergency in our full day first aid session.
Week 2
It's a very exciting time in WDPS - we have started preparing for our end-of-year, Year 6 leavers play. Each child should have received their scrip and part in the play. We know it can be daunting for some children but its a big achievement to be part of something so big and every part is just as important as the other. We've been doing lots of practicing and singing, you may hear your children singing some of the songs at home. Well done Year 6, keep practicing those lines, we know you will all be amazing and overcome your fears, increasing your confidence along the way.
Week 1
Welcome back Year 6. We hope you had a very well deserved rest over the holidays.
Our first week back has mainly focused on history, looking at D-Day and its importance and impact on the world we live in today. The children looked brilliant in their costumes on Monday, the teachers even got dressed up too.
