Autumn B
Week 4
This week in English the children have been sorting fiction and non-fiction texts and looking at the differences. We have started to write facts about hedgehogs, by taking notes and then using them in our writing. In Maths the children have been learning about 2D shapes and their properties, including the number of sides and corners as well as sorting them into groups using their own criteria. We have continued to learn our songs and lines for the Christmas performance in the coming weeks. In Art we have looked another artist Paul Klee and created an example of his work using water colours.

Week 3
This week in English the children have been writing their own list poem about the senses in Autumn. In Maths the children have been continuing subtracting using a number line and the year two children have been improving their adding and subtracting skills completing some mixed calculations . On Tuesday the year two children had a NSPPC workshop about how to speak out when they feel worried or unsafe. We have begun to learn our songs and lines for the Christmas performance in the coming weeks. On Thursday the children recited a poem to the parents and after the parents stopped to talk to staff about how to improve their children's reading. On Friday the class enjoyed mixing secondary colours using primary colours and then went on to create their own colours to complete a Mark Rothko style painting.

Week 2
This week in English the children have been exploring their senses on an Autumn walk. They have illustrated a poem about Autumn and sorted vocabulary. In Maths the children have been subtracting using a number line and the year two children have been adding and subtracting without crossing tens . On Monday we had a two minute silence on the yard to remember those who have given their lives or been injured in past conflicts. On Thursday the class enjoyed an afternoon in the bush craft area. In Art the children created a Piet Mondrian piece of art using shapes and primary colours.

Week 1
The class have enjoyed a great first week. The children have had a well deserved rest and have come back ready to learn. In English they have written a poem about fireworks, focusing on the senses. In Maths the children have been subtracting and finding a part of a number and the year two children have been adding and subtracting ten from a given number. In P.E we have started a new unit of target games. In PSHE we have looked at Remembrance Day, thinking about those who have lost their lives and protected our freedom.
