Summer Term A
Summer 1 Week 5
Rather a busy week this week after our Ofsted visit! The children did themselves proud and their effort and behaviour were excellent! Mr MingStones will receive the report in a few weeks after it has been checked and will then be able to publish it π.
We have begun our new Geography topic, the Seaside. We had to sort pictures into three groups, seaside, countryside an towns & cities. The children learned about the different features of these areas an that we could use the descriptions Coast, Rural and Urban areas. We learned that some places had features of more than one area.

One of the highlights of the day was a visit from the ice cream van! Lots of happy faces!! π
We thoroughly enjoyed our Coronation celebrations in school! We designed our own coronation picnic bags an made beautiful crowns to wear. We all looked fabulous dressed in red, white and blue β€οΈπ€ππ
Summer 1 Week 2
We had a fantastic day out on Thursday with our trip to Washington Wetlands Centre! We travelled on the school minibuses and we were very excited when we arrived to find a giant nest πͺΉ with Ava, half bird and half human, inside. We had already listened to her story where she started life as an osprey chick and landed in a magical nest that made her half human. She told us that many wild birds and animals were struggling because of human behaviour. We were sent on some challenges to try and help wildlife…
We then watched the otters feeding time and learned about these fascinating animals. We thought they were otterly adorable! π¦¦. We then visited the fabulous flamingos 𦩠and found out about these beautiful birds.
We then visited Ava in her nest πͺΉ where, with our help, she managed to spread her wings and fly! She was so happy to be able to migrate to Africa in the colder months to help her stay warm.
After lunch, we walked around the park again with our binoculars to get a closer look at the wonderful birds and animals. Our final stop was the play area. A great time was had by all and the staff at Washington Wetlands Centre congratulated the children on their enthusiasm, engagement, behaviour and manners! πππ

During this half term, our class has weekly cycling lessons with Mrs Williams. Each child will have their lesson on every other Tuesday afternoon. They are taught in small groups to enable them to make progress. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for cycling on Tuesdays ππ²
In Art, we have begun learning about sculpture. This week we made our own mini sculptures out of clay. Don’t they look good?!
