Autumn B
Week 4
Year 5/6 are enjoying learning to cook some tasty meals through the CHEFF programme. This week they made quorn korma - it looked and smelt delicious.
Our thoughts are also turning to Christmas and our pupils displayed their creative skills by designing some amazing baubles for a competition. We’re sure that the judges are going to find it extremely difficult to choose the winning entry!
Week 3
This week some of the children have been on their residential to RobinWood Activity Centre in Alston. They showed great determination, courage and resilience when participating in all of the activities and surviving the freezing temperatures! The children who stayed behind have been learning about street art, making clay models and have had an NSPCC workshop.
Week 2
Monday saw us celebrating Remembrance Day, observing a two minute silence and performing In Flanders Fields. We were invited to St. Mary’s Heritage Centre to work with the River Trust, who taught us all about flood prevention, on their realistic model of the local area. In our cookery classes, we made a delicious, healthy chicken and rice dice. In History, we have started our new topic about Ancient Greece.
Week 1
It has been lovely to see everyone back after the half term break and we have certainly had a great first week back. We have recapped our learning about WW2 and learned about Remembrance Day, whilst also learning to recite the poem, In Flanders Fields by John McCrae. The children have written their own poetry entitled ‘The Battle’. In Art, the children chose their own artist preferences to create a Remembrance piece and they were wonderful. Finally, the children had their first Cookery lesson, where they all cooked a delicious chilli chicken wrap and all went all home with a yummy, healthy treat.
