Week 3
In class this week the children have continued to study the poem ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ by Edward Lear. The children had an Oracy focused lesson where they had to be the Pussycat or the Owl and talk about their adventure. In preparation for this lesson, they made models of the characters out of play dough to help them get into character. In Maths the children have been measuring using a ruler and a meter stick. On Monday the class once again had great fun in the P.E workshop. In Science the children have been investigating what a plant needs to grow and sequencing the life cycle of a plant. On Tuesday the staff and children dressed in black and white to celebrate Newcastle United’s amazing win and had a non uniform day on Friday to support Comic Relief.

Week 2
The class had a fantastic visit to Pizza Express at the Metro Centre, this week. In Maths the children have been focusing on division and multiplication reasoning problems In Science the children identified some native wild plants and learnt about why some trees lose their leaves. The class have had a lot of fun searching the internet safely in ICT P, looking at different search engines and websites to research dinosaurs. In R.E we started learning about ‘What Muslims Celebrate’. We have also been trying to find the pulse and clapping rhythms in Music.

Week 1
What a lovely start to this half term! In Maths the children have been multiplying and dividing using tens and twos. The children had a fantastic P.E. session doing Street Dance. In Science the class labelled the parts of a plant and planted their own wild flower seeds. In English the started to recite the poem ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ by Edward Lear On Thursday the children came to school in their PJs for World Book Day. They visited the school library and shared the library books and the books they had brought from home with their friends.
