Spring B
Week 6
Easter
This week we continued our topic of Spring. We learned about the different ways that Christian’s celebrate Easter and about the significance of items linked to Easter such as chocolate eggs, hot cross buns and the cross. Reception listened to the Easter story and why Christians celebrate this time of year. Throughout the week we enjoyed a range of Easter activities such as making Easter cards, chocolate nests, singing Easter songs and finished the week with an Easter egg hunt.

Week 5
Eid
Our story of the week was "The Most Exciting Eid" by Zeba Talkhani. We have been learning about the 'festival of the breaking of the fast' that marks the end of Ramadan. Ramadan is a month long holiday when Muslims fast, or go without food and drinks during daylight. During Eid-al-Fitr Muslims go to the mosque, have a feast with their families and give money to charity. Reception made Eid lanterns to hang as decoration.
Week 4
My Mummy
We enjoyed the story "My Mummy" by Adam Hargreaves and thought about what makes our Mummy's special.

Black and White Day
Well done to Newcastle United for winning the Carabao Cup at Wembley. Reception kicked off the celebrations with a Black and White day!

The Three Billy Goats Gruff
Reception have been listening to different versions of the traditional tale "The Three Billy Goats Gruff". We worked in teams to design and build a safe way for the goats to cross the river. The children used their resilience and team work skills brilliantly to create some fantastic strong and practical ideas. Look at our amazing bridge models!
Troll Wanted Posters
We wrote wanted posters to hunt down the Troll and stuck them around school.

Week 2
The Gruffalo
Our story of the week is "The Gruffalo" by Julia Donaldson. We made a delicious Gruffalo crumble. Can you spot the purple prickles, orange eyes, knobbly knees, black tongue, brown fur, poisonous green wart and terrible tusks?

Week 1
World Book Day
Today Miss Hazell opened the Reception door to lots of wonderful book characters and children in pyjamas ready to share a bedtime story!
Don't forget the children can cash in their £1 book vouchers in bookshops.

Mr Wolf's Pancakes
This week we listened to the story "Mr Wolf's Pancakes"by Jan Fearnley. We thought about what Mr Wolf said in the story and wrote a matching speech bubble.

Pancake Toppings
We added different toppings to our pancakes and did very well to cut them up. Our topping choices included strawberry jam, lemon, chocolate spread and golden syrup. Yum! What is your favourite flavour?
Reception also learned the poem 'Mix a Pancake' and performed it as a class.
