Spring B
Week 6
This week in English we have written a letter home from war based on The Piano which involved some very emotional writing. In maths we have been reading and creating pie charts. On Tuesday we had a Phase 3 Internet Safety workshop where the children had to make their own board game teaching how to be safe online. We’ve also had some wonderful Easter Egg Competition entries. We hope you enjoy your Easter break.
Week 5
This week we have been looking at how to calculate the mean in maths and also how to read and plot a line graph. In English we have been further breaking down The Piano, thinking about the music and how that can be interpreted into feelings and put into similes.
On Wednesday the class gave a magnificent performed on the Djembe drums to the rest of Key Stage 2.
Week 4
In English we have continued our work on The Piano, writing an emotional piece about a memory from the war. In Maths we have been looking at areas of shapes. On Thursday, we eared ourselves some mental respite and had lots of fun in the allotments and bushcraft area.
Week 3
This week we have started shape in maths, recapping how to calculate area and perimeter. We’ve also been looking at calculating the area of a triangle. In English we have written a persuasive text about why phones should be banned for under 16 year old. The children came up with some very good arguments and really thiught about the subject. We have also continued drumming where one half of the class is drumming one tune and the other side is drumming another in tandem, it’s loud but coming on well.
Week 2
This week we have been writing a character description based on The Piano. You can see some samples of work in the gallery below. In maths we have been working on converting between percentages, fractions and decimals, as well as plenty of SATs practice. In Geography, we've been looking into why we need the ocean, focusing mainly on the trade routes from Australia.
Week 1
Welcome back. We hope you all had a very rested week off.
This week we have started our new English topic based on a short video called The Piano. The children have been analysing the video and identifying feelings and actions to help in preparation for writing about it later. In maths, we have been been multiplying decimals and converting fractions to decimals.
We’ve also played some drums and celebrated World Book Day.
