Week 7
Parent Craft Workshop

A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us for our Parent Craft Workshop. It was lovely to see so many families taking part and getting creative together. The children had a wonderful time making baubles and designing their own Christmas cards.
We hope you enjoyed the experience as much as the children did.
Christmas Crafts

The children have enjoyed being creative this week, making cards, baubles and reindeer food ready for the festive season. It has been great to see them crafting and making throughout the week.
Party!!!

Reception had a wonderful morning full of dancing, party games and party food. Don't we look fantastic in our party clothes!
Week 6
Christmas Writing

The children used their phonics knowledge to write CVC labels. They were great at hearing the sounds and identifying the correct letter formation to write.
Shape Hunt

This week in Maths the children have been naming and finding shapes around our classroom by identifying how many sides and edges they have.
Nursery Rhyme Nativity

The children have enjoyed another busy week in school and the excitement for Christmas is beginning to build! We have been working hard on our Christmas production of Nursery Rhyme Nativity which the children performed twice on Wednesday.
Week 6
Santa's Treehouse Grotto

We had a special visitor in our Bushcraft area. Santa Claus came to visit and handed out treats and gifts to the children. Reception were so excited to see Santa and enjoyed catching their gifts at the end of the slide.
Christmas Dinner

Reception celebrated with a Christmas dinner. Roast turkey with all the trimmings and Christmas music.
Designing Our Own Christmas Jumpers

As part of 'Save the Children' Christmas jumper day the children came to school in their Christmas jumpers and designed their own creations.
Week 5
Oi Frog!

The children loved reading the book "Oi Frog!" by Kes Gray this week. They had a good giggle at flea's sitting on peas and dog sitting on frog and loved making up some of their own versions. We practised our rhyming skills while matching rhyming picture pairs.
Caption Writing

Stampoline Patterns for 5

Reception printed their own 5 patterns and used spatial language to describe it.
Christmas Problem Solving

This week in school the children have been learning how to solve problems. The children completed a Christmas puzzle, cutting out shapes and sticking them in the correct place.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The children enjoyed decorating the Christmas tree with baubles, tinsel and lights.
Week 4
Rosie's Walk Caption Writing

In Reception this week we have continued writing about Rosie's Walk by Pat Hutchins and have attempted to write a caption about part of the story.

Book Talk about Rosie's Walk
We have been talking about Rosie's Walk linked to speaking and listening. The children worked in groups talking about a page from the story. Then we shared what they could see and what was happening in the story. The children were encouraged to use the phrases I think and because to explain their responses.
Gracie said " I think the fox will eat Rosie"
Ava said "Rosie doesn't know the fox is there"
Lena said " the fox is sneaking"
Chester said " the fox is chasing Rosie"

This week linked the children have been taking aerial photographs of their “Rosie's Walk” group story map.
IPads

The children had a lot of fun exploring the early years apps during their time on the iPads.
Fine motor challenge

On Friday the children completed some fine motor challenges, we had a carousel of activities including threading buttons, peg boards and pompoms and tweezers and playdough.
Week 3
Rosie's Walk
Our story of the week is "Rosie's Walk" by Pat Hutchins. The children retold the story using positional language to retell the story in the correct order, using the characters and the props on the tuff spot.
Big Write
Our big write this week has been linked to our story Rosie's Walk, the children have used their sounds to write cvc words and a simple caption, concentrating on good letter formation.
Parts and Whole

This week the children have been learning about 'part' and 'whole.' We have looked at toys with different parts and even different body parts. The children learnt that all the parts together make a whole and they could show a part of jigsaw puzzle, pizza and cake.
Week 2
Remembrance Day
Theo and the Velvet Onesies
Reception were fascinated to learn children had to sleep underground during the war to stay safe in London. We found out that the prime minister Winston Churchill's siren suit was the original onesie! The children used loose parts to make their own poppy designs.
Big Write
Linked to our theme of remembrance the children wrote cvc words using the sounds they have been taught.
Lest We Forget
Reception observed the two minute silence on Remembrance Day. We watched the Cbeebies animation 'Poppies' and talked about how the rabbit was feeling.
Equal Amounts
We helped Baby Bear share the party items so that each bear had an equal amount. The children also compared groups of up to 3 objects by matching them one to one, practising their early maths and sharing skills in a fun, hands on way.
Poppy Biscuits
On Wednesday the children enjoyed decorating poppy biscuits using coloured icing and chocolate buttons, delicious!
Children in Need
Thank you to all the families who helped us support Children in Need this year! What a fantastic day we had, raising money for a great cause! The children also enjoyed decorating their own spotty cupcakes and taking part in the fundraising activity ‘Hook a Duck’, inspired by the story "Pudsey’s Great Fundraiser". The children also took part in a reading challenge with children from year 3/4, sharing stories and reading their chosen books.
Week 1
Bonfire Night
This week, the children have been sharing their stories and experiences of Bonfire Night. We watched an exciting video of a firework display and used our phonics skills to write about the things we could see and hear. The class also enjoyed reading the story "Sparks in the Sky" and talked about the importance of staying safe during firework displays.

It’s been a wonderful week full of sparkle, colour, and fantastic writing!

Five
In Maths this week, the children have been focusing on the number 5. They have been counting objects and practising their one to one correspondence through a variety of fun activities. Using the song Five Little Peas, the children explored the number 5 in different ways — making collections of five using a hand template and then a die frame.
During their learning, the children made an exciting discovery. When two die frames are put together, there are 10 in total “ 5 and another 5 make 10 altogether!”
Firework Display Art
The children loved developing their fine motor skills while creating their own firework inspired artwork. They drew shapes and patterns using bright colours to make beautiful firework display pictures. The class also completed a fun fine motor firework challenge, carefully sticking stars along the pathway of a sparkler and using chalks on slate boards to create colourful designs. They also enjoyed making firework patterns in coloured sand, exploring different textures and patterns as they worked.
Making Sparkler Snacks
The children had great fun making their own sparkler snacks! They used breadsticks dipped in melted chocolate and decorated them with colourful sprinkles to look just like real sparklers. Everyone enjoyed making (and eating!) their delicious creations.

Day of the Dead
On Wednesday, the children took part in a whole school Spanish Day celebrating a tradition 'Dia De Los Muertos' that honours the lives of loved ones. To join in the festivities, the children came to school dressed in their Halloween costumes, adding even more colour and excitement to the day!
