‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Summer B

Week 7

What a final week: Lightwater Valley, leavers disco, ceerificate, signing shirt and making memories to last a lifetime.

Please see our social media pages for highlights from Lightwater Valley. We wish all our pupils the very best for the future. Have a great summer and continue to be awesome in everything you do.

Week 6

weve had lots of children out on transition to their new secondary schools. We hope they have all enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to their next chapter come September. For those children who have been here, they have been doing some illusion art and helping fellow pupils around the school.

Week 5

What a week! The children were absolutely brilliant in their leavers play that they performed to the whole school and then their parents. Every child gave it their all and we are so proud of them. After we enjoyed a pizza party in the allotments with our families.

Week 4

This week we have prepared and written our entries ready to send off to Monster Tails, which is a creative writing competition for 7 to 11 year olds. The children had to write a story in 100 words or less and we have some amazing storied so hopefully we will have some winners from WDPS. In art, we have done perspective drawing using a focus point to draw buildings. Some of us also enjoyed a bike ride while the rest of us had fun in the allotments.

Week 3

We have been doing lots and lots of singing this week in preparation for our leavers play. In English, we did a slow write with the title Tentacle, where the children were given instructions for each sentence to really think about what they were writing and the language used.. In Science we have been learning about the rainforest and also looking at internal and external fertilisation processes. We also enjoyed a trip to Westerhope Primary School for the Enterprise event. The children were able to speak to lots of different businesses and learn what it’s like to work there.

Week 2

As promised, below are the finished art pieces. We think they look brilliant and capture impressionalism perfectly. In English we have continued working on our own sinister story based on Clockwork. In science we have been looking at asexual and sexual reproduction in living things. We’ve also been singing our hearts out in preparation for our Year 6 leavers play.

Week 1

What a productive week back we have had! We enjoyed some  cycling on Wednesday morning with Mrs Williams. The children all listened well and tried their best which was great to see. We’ve started an art project to do with impressionalism, which we’ll finish next week. Below is a sneak peak of what we’ve done so far to see if you can guess what our final product will be. We’ve also finished our database topic in ICT and had time to enhance the games we made.

In English, we have finished reading Clockwork by Philip Pullman, with its sinister ending. The children will spend the next few days planning and writing their own atmospheric story with an eerie twist at the end. We can’t wait to read them.
