‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Summer B

Week 3

There has been a lot of excitement in school this week, with the build up of our performance at the 'The Big Gig', at the end of the week.

Mr Rudkin has been teaching the children how to play the ukulele this year and learn ten song, with a seventies theme.

On Friday, we set off for the Vertu Arena, where 1,500 children from across the city were excitedly waiting. Despite the soaring temperatures on the day, the children were FANTASTIC and our staff were so proud of them. The event was well organised and supported by parents who came to see us play. Thank you for coming. The children very much enjoyed playing as part of a larger band and the atmosphere was incredible. What a day to remember!

Week 2

This week has been another busy week in Year 4!

We have been continuing to learn about fractions in Maths and have been adding and subtracting fractions including proper fractions, improper fractions and mixed number fractions.

In English we have been continuing with our book Oliver and the Seawigs. On Monday we found out what a Seawig is and then wrote a list of things that would make a super Seawig and adjectives to describe them effectively. We then wrote a set of instructions to make our own Seawig and once we had written them we went on to make our own Seawig. We were also introduced to the characters of the sarcastic seaweek and really enjoyed writing a script for our own version of of Oliver and Iris meeting the sarcastic seaweed including our own sarcastic speech for them and next week we will be role playing our scripts.

We also began our street dance lessons on Monday which we really enjoyed but it was tough and we had a lot of red faces by the end of it and really pushed our selves physically.

Year 4

We've a had a fantastic start to the beginning of our last half term.

In Maths, we have started learning about decimals and fractions, which will continue until the end of the Academic year. The class have made a flying start!

In ICT, we have begun the topic 'Graphing'. Over the next six weeks the children will have solved a maths question, presented the results in a range of graphical formats and will have used the sorting option to make analysis of their data easier.
