Week 7

The children have enjoyed the last week in Year 1 and are definitely ready for Year 2.

Week 6 

What a busy week! The children had a wonderful time enjoying Sports day. They gave each race 100% and showed great sportsmanship cheering on their classmates. 

Week 4

This week the year two children had a PSHE workshop, discussing the importance of what is in your pants is private. On Tuesday the children enjoyed taking part in the races ready for sports day. In History we have learnt about what happens in a coronation and who becomes King or Queen.  In maths the children have been collecting data for their favourite fruit and displaying the results in tally charts.

In RE the children have been learning about how Sikhs meditate and the importance of the turban. They created their own Kalgis which are an ornament for turbans. They also created their own Khanda mosaics which are a symbol for Sikhism.

Week 3

The children have been learning how to tell the time in five minute intervals.  In History we have started a new topic, learning about What is a monarch?  On Thursday we made Mardi Gras masks with visitors from Newcastle University. We visited the Bushcraft Area on Thursday for an amazing afternoon of creativity and fun. The children learnt about fire safety around the camp fire and enjoyed some s'mores. They had to collect firewood and had plenty of opportunity for exploration and team activities. They then wrote a recount on Friday about all the fun they had had.  On Friday parents came to have coffee and join in with our Phase 1 achievers assembly. Busy week! 

Week 1/2

What a busy two weeks! The children have been working hard practising for, and completing their Secret Agent Training. The children have made us feel very proud and should be proud of their efforts and hard work all year.

In Maths this week we have started to learn about Time and the children made their own interactive clocks to take home and consolidate learning. In RE the children have enjoyed learning about Sikhism and the 5 Ks. Well done Year 2!
