Summer B
Week 4
This week the children cooled off in the Ice corner by challenging themselves to unfold a frozen T-shirt that was shipped straight from the South Pole. It was funny to see the concentration on their faces when they had to work as a team to get the ice cubes onto the targets on the trays, it certainly wasn't easy. The children also put on their science hats to investigate whether objects would float or sink in the water tray. The children made their own predictions before writing about their findings.

Week 3
This week we have been reading the story "Handa's Surprise" set in Kenya. We developed our descriptive writing by using words in our sentences to describe what the fruit looks and feels like.

Week 2
Peepo!
We have been looking at the story "Peepo!" by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. A story set in the 1940's which looks at what a baby can see as they look around their family home. We enjoyed comparing some of the rooms in the story, to what our houses and rooms look like now. We saw a kettle, an iron and toilets that were very different from what we are used to!
Investigating Old Objects
This week the children have been investigating and exploring some old objects. We thought about how the objects might have been used. We compared the old objects to the new modern day versions. The children were amazed at how heavy the iron was.
Cycling
The children have enjoyed taking part in their first cycling lessons at school with Mrs Williams. It was amazing to see how many can already ride without stabilisers.
Week 1
Sam Plants a Sunflower
Reception enjoyed looking through this book by Axel Scheffler and the National Trust. Sam loves big, yellow sunflowers and decides to plant his own seeds. We watched the seeds grow and loved the big sunflower pop-up surprise at the end. Reception used the helpful tips to plant their own seeds and write instructions.
Number Bonds of 10
This week we have continued to look at number bonds of 10. We have been using Numicon to match together 2 pieces that have a total of 10. We then used the STEM sentence __ + __= 10.

Attendance Reward
This week we completed 'Our Perfect Attendance' wall and had a lovely time playing on the school field.
