Spring B
Week 6
This week year 1 have been getting creative in English by writing their own poems all about Spring. They used their imaginations to describe the sights and sounds of the season, producing some lovely pieces of work.
In PE, the children took part in boxercise, where they practised simple fitness routines and had lots of fun staying active.
To celebrate their fantastic attendance, the class also enjoyed a special treat of ice cream sundaes—there were lots of smiles as they enjoyed their delicious desserts together!

Year 1 have been working hard in English to learn and recite a poem from memory. They used picture prompts to help them remember the order of their poem, “Morning Comes,” and showed great confidence when performing it.
The children also enjoyed a special visit to the church, where they performed their Easter song and learned more about the Easter story. They explored the building, looked closely at what they could see, and asked thoughtful questions, showing great curiosity and respect. It has been a memorable and enriching experience for everyone!

Week 4
This week we have been exploring weight by using scales to compare different objects. The children have been learning to use the vocabulary heavier and lighter, and have enjoyed predicting and testing which items would weigh more.
In computing, the children used iPads to create their own music using Music Lab. They had lots of fun experimenting with different sounds and rhythms to compose simple pieces.
In art, the class took their learning outdoors, exploring a range of surfaces and using the rubbing technique to create textured pictures. It has been a creative and hands-on week full of discovery!

Week 2
Year 1 had a wonderful time coming into school dressed for bedtime stories to celebrate World Book Day. They were joined by Year 5 in our KS1 garden, giving the younger children the chance to explore a space they haven’t yet had the opportunity to investigate. It was lovely to see the children sharing stories together, chatting about the pictures and characters, and enjoying reading in such a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Week 1
The children have had a very busy week making smoothies. They practised chopping different fruits, experimented with various fruit combinations, and then chose their favourite mix to create their own smoothie. We also started our new book Billy and the Beast. The children made predictions about what might happen in the story and practised using exclamation marks in their writing.
