‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Spring B

Week 6

 Easter Fun and Learning

Look at all the new playtime activities we have engaged in this week.

 Chocolate Nests

We decorated baskets and made chocolate nests as part of our Easter celebrations.

 Easter Stay and Play

A huge thank you to all of the grown ups who came along to our 'Stay and Play' Easter sessions. The children enjoyed it very much and we hope you did too!

 Splash Splosh River

We loved stomping, jumping and splashing in the water!

Week 5

 Squelch Squerch Mud

Rainbow group made thick oozy chocolate mud cakes for snack.

 Stumble Trip Forest

We used leaf stampers, rollers and body parts to make a print together.

Learning Through Play

Heavy work such as lifting and rolling tyres can help children to calm and regulate their sensory system.  We have accessed matching and posting activities during play.  Water has also been a popular outside choice for Rainbow group.  Scarlett has particularly enjoyed mark making with a paintbrush dipped in water.

Week 4

 Swishy Swashy Grass

The children used easy grip scissors that use a palm and thumb to squeeze.  The children made snips in paper.

 Painting Bears

We practised using a small paintbrush to apply paint to our bear models.

Mother's Day Crafts

Rainbow group hope the special ladies in our lives will love their collage and printed card designs.

Week 2

We're Going on a Bear Hunt

Our sensory story this term is "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen.  We are developing a love of stories and they enjoyed exploring the sensory bottles.  You can listen to the story at home by following the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gyI6ykDwds

Bear Cakes

We decorated our cakes with ...

One shiny wet nose! Two big furry ears! Two big googly eyes! IT'S A BEAR !!!!

Grown ups pointed to and named parts of the face.  The children were encouraged to copy.

  Goodbye Miss Reid

Rainbow group worked as a team to make a finger print design.  Thank you for helping us grow Miss Reid, we will miss you! We hope you liked your picture.

Collage Bear

We carefully arranged collage to cover a bear.  The children developed their fine motor skills by using a glue spreader.  Grown ups gave hand over help when needed.  Roar!

Week 1

 Thomas Bewick

Scarlett and Rowan accessed the sensory room and soft play this week.  We are looking forward to our regular visits.

Jump!!!!

 Pancakes

Rainbow group made choices between two and tried different toppings.  This included strawberries, chocolate drops, sauce and syrup.
