Spring B
Week 5
Congratulations to the class for achieving their ‘Our Perfect Attendance’ treat'. The children enjoyed a non-uniform day, free choice on the field and ice lollies as their reward.
As part of our literacy unit, the children have written flashbacks which you can read below- they were amazing!
In PE the children enjoyed a game of tag rugby, putting all of their skills into practise.
Week 4
The children have been developing their Tag rugby skills in PE this week and are learning to pass the ball backwards while travelling forwards. During their final ABC session, the children got to try on some police uniform, which they were very excited about. Our African drumming is almost ready for our performance next week.
Week 3
The focus of this week's Forces in Action Science topic was levers and pulleys. Our year 5 pupils worked in small groups to construct a catapult using lolly sticks, elastic bands and a bottle top. They enjoyed seeing how far they could launch a piece of plasticine and whether the position of the elastic bands had any effect on this distance.
On Tuesday we celebrated Newcastle United's historic win in the Carabao Cup Final with a non-uniform day where pupils and staff were invited to wear black and white instead of our usual school uniform. We also enjoyed learning how to play tag rugby in our PE lesson.
Week 2
Our Year 5 pupils are continuing to learn about Forces in Action in their science lessons. This week we were learning about the effects of water resistance. We conducted an experiment to see if the shape of a piece of plasticine affected how long it took for the plasticine to sink to the bottom of a container of water.
