Week 6
On Tuesday we marked Safer Internet Day by learning about how to keep ourselves safe on-line as this year's theme was "Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI (Artificial Intelligence)."
On Thursday we enjoyed another ceilidh session facilitated by the Newcastle Music Service. We performed the three dances that we have been learning this half-term.

Week 5
This week the children were focusing on writing techniques to build suspense and in maths they have been learning to calculate percentages of amounts. In PE the children practised symmetrical balances on the floor and using equipment. They have also been learning to create data bases in computing.
Weeks 3&4
In Science, we have been learning about static electricity. We carried lots of fun investigations and made careful observations- hair raising fun! In PE, we have been developing our strength and balance in yoga and gymnastics. We have been continuing to study Kensuke’s Kingdom in English and in Maths, we have been multiplying and dividing fractions. On Wednesday, some of went to see the world premiere of Weird at the Theatre Royal.
Week 2
The children have been focusing on their arithmetic skills this week in both maths lessons and in our basic skills sessions. They have been simplifying fractions and adding and subtracting fractions and they are really getting hang of this. Year 5 had another fantastic week at their swimming lessons and many of them are now able to swim unaided, which is a huge accomplishment! In English, the children have continued to focus on reading and comprehension skills and in Art the children finished their fantasy maps and presented them to the class.
Week 1
The children were delighted to receive Christmas cards this week from students in our Spanish link school. In maths, the children have been learning to simplify fractions and find fractions of an amount. English hand had a grammar and reading comprehension focus this week and we have been continuing to read The Song from Somewhere else. Year 5 have had their first week of daily swimming lessons and have already made good progress. In Art, the children were creating fantasy maps for their typography unit.
