Week 4
Sharing Eggs
Using our Little Red Hen eggs, the children enjoyed sharing them out fairly with their friends. Adults modelled mathematical language such as “one for you, one for you” supporting one to one correspondence and counting. The children were encouraged to compare quantities and talk about whether they had the same, more or less.
Drawing Story Maps
Some of the children showed a keen interest in creating their own story maps after Mrs Hughes modelled one on the Smart Board. They used their story map to support their understanding and enthusiastically joined in with the repeated refrains such as “Who will help me?” and “Not I.”
Week 3
The Little Red Hen
The children enjoyed listening to the story of The Little Red Hen, using a story map to help them follow and understand the tale. They eagerly joined in with the repeated phrases, calling out “Who will help me?” and responding with “Not I!” during the story. The Nursery children helped the Little Red Hen by mixing, kneading and rolling the dough. They had lots of fun helping the Little Red Hen and were very proud of their yummy bread buns.
Early Years Acheivers Assembly
On Friday, we were very excited to welcome our grown ups into school for our Celebration Assembly. Nursery and both Reception classes came together to celebrate our 'Super Stars'.
A big well done to our two children who were chosen as the Stars of the Week for Rose Class ⭐ We are so proud of you both and loved sharing this special moment with our families!

Counting Treasure
On the interest table, the children explored boxes, jewels and crystals. Using ‘Ten Town’ number cards, they matched the right number of jewels to the boxes.
Frames of Friendship!
One of the children came in wearing a pair of fake glasses and had so much fun sharing them with her friends. She put the glasses on each friend and then used the iPad herself to take the photos. How cute do they look?

Week 2
From Snakes to Snowmen
Playdough is a fantastic open ended activity that our children love. It allows them to use their imagination freely while developing their fine motor skills. When one child asked for a knife, this prompted the adult to introduce a variety of tools, which the children were excited to explore and experiment with.
Some children made snakes and carefully counted buttons as they added them on. Others created lumps of 'potato' and used the potato masher to squash the dough, explaining that they were making mash. One child made a snowman and decorated it with lots of buttons, while another rolled the dough into a long snake and manipulated it to form the number 6 then a triangle.
I was extremely impressed with the children’s creativity and problem-solving. The activity also encouraged rich communication, as the children talked about their ideas and explained what they were making.

Week 1
Winter Wonderland
The children used their senses to explore, investigate and play with the ice. They used winter animals to role play together and shared lots of language about their findings, discussing how cold it was and why it was melting. They also tried their hardest to break up the ice and enjoyed the challenge.
Snow
The children explored paint and collage materials to make snowstorm and snowman pictures.
I wonder why the sink is blocked?
Two children came in from the bathroom to tell the staff that the water was not going down the sink. They went outside to investigate and found that the pipe was frozen. Mrs Hughes poured some hot water down the pipe and they watched as the ice popped out.
