Spring A
Week 6
This week, the children worked really hard on their assessments. We have all been really impressed with their efforts and hard work, well done everyone! On Thursday, we enjoyed our attendance treat of non-uniform and bringing in a toy. After all of their hard work this week, it was well deserved! In Bushcraft on Friday, the children had fun in a warm up game which involved them acting as animals found in the UK. They also created their names or initials using loose parts.
Week 5
This week, we continued reading The Iron Man in English lessons. The children used figurative language such as personification and metaphors to write amazing poems about a scrap yard. In Music, after learning to sing the song Three Little Birds by Bob Marley, the children learned to play some of the parts on a glockenspiel.

Week 4
We were treated to a Rocksteady Music assembly and workshop this week, where the children learned more about some of the instruments. Some children even got to have a go at playing in a band! In English, the children wrote some amazing persuasive letters. Their use of persuasive language is fantastic! In Bushcraft, we continued bow sawing and the children also enjoyed having a go on the new slack line.

Week 3
In Science we have been learning all about Light. In our lesson on Sun Safety, the children had to choose the best material to make lenses for their sunglasses. They decided that opaque materials wouldn't work and transparent materials let through too much light, so they went for translucent materials. We continued reading the Iron Man in English, and the children wrote some amazing setting descriptions. They also used pastels to create some amazing artwork of the Iron Man. We were really impressed by their attention to detail!
Week 2
We continued multiplication and division in maths this week, looking at the 4 times table. In Science, we started our new topic all about Light. The children sorted natural and man made sources of light and also learned about reflective surfaces. They used torches to test different materials to see which ones reflected light best. In Bushcraft, the children were very sensible while using a bow saw. They remembered all of the safety rules and worked well together!
Week 1
In English, we started our new class text,'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. The children made predictions about the book, then after reading the first chapter they wrote similes and metaphors to describe the Iron Man. In PE we started gymnastics. We looked at safety in gymnastics, before learning the basic shapes and stretches and then began to look at partner balances.
