Autumn A
Week 5
On Tuesday, we all took part in a conscience ally drama activity. One person volunteered to be the man and the rest of us acted as a his conscience. As he walked past we told him what he was thinking and whether or not he should chop down the Great Kapok Tree. We had time to prepare our reasons in class so that we could persuade him. We used our ideas on Wednesday to help us to plan our own dilemma story.
Week 4
This week we have continued reading our English text The Great Kapok tree. We have developed our dictionary skills to find the definitions of new words that we have read and didn't know before. It was tricky however, we persevered and found them all. We have also been learning about causal conjunctions and rhetorical questions so that we can include these in our persuasive letter writing as these are important features of persuasion.
In music we have been continuing our Unit on Mama Mia. So far all of the songs we have listened to an appraised have had a fast tempo and beat. However, this weeks song The Winner Takes it all had a much slower tempo which some of us enjoyed however the majority of us still liked the faster ones.
In PE we have been continuing with Yoga, developing our breathing and relaxation skills. We are becoming increasingly skilled at the different positions and are really good at most of them and are nailing our downward dogs, tables and cobras.
Week 3
We've had a fantastic week in Year 3/4. The children have been developing their hockey skills, by focusing on their control of the ball.
In Maths, we have been comparing units of measure from mm to km, with lots of practical fun! In R.E. the children have been looking at signs and symbols around us. We discussed how food can be a symbol in a celebration and the children wrote about their experience of this e.g. birthdays.
Week 2
Year 3/4, in Science sessions, have been exploring the nutritional values of different foods The children investigated whether a statement was true or false, by gathering information from food labels. In R.E. we are learning about 'Signs and Symbols'. We talked about where they might be seen and their meaning. We discussed how things which are special to us, can have a very special meaning and some children shared this with the class. In ICT we have continued the theme of Internet safety from last week and focused on scam emails. The children were asked to identify them from a selection and we highlighted signs to look out for and what to do when they have been identified.
Week 1
In Science, Year 3/4 are learning about 'Animals Including Humans'. We have been learning about nutrition for Humans and Animals and if they require the same diet. The class investigated different food groups and created a balanced meal. In P.E. lessons we are learning how to play Hockey. The class enjoyed getting out into the sunshine. They practised how to move safely in a space with their hockey stick, whilst changing direction.
Our class PE days are on Tuesday and Thursdays. Please ensure that your child wears their PE kit and trainers on these days.
Thank you.
