This week the children have been writing sentences about Little Red Riding Hood, describing her appearance. In maths they have been working hard on addition using part whole models. In history the children could make suggestions about what to put in a time capsule.

Week 6
The children have worked so hard this week. They have been ordering groups of objects and numbers. They have been using ordinal numbers for their races. They have written some great sentences about our trip. In science, they have created great life cycles and in history they were able to compare objects from the past and present.

Week 5
The children thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Jesmond Dene, we saw lots of animals, explored the park, petted a rabbit and went on a senses walk. The rest of the week has been busy, the children have been comparing numbers, labelling the wolf, asking historical questions and enjoying outdoor maths.

Week 4
Another jam-packed week in the Daffodil class. The children have enjoyed writing what the characters in Little Red Riding Hood might have said. In maths, they are super at giving one more and one less and can compare amounts with mathematical language. In science, they enjoyed learning about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. In history they have been sharing memories of how the celebrate their birthdays. Next week they will be looking at the lives of children in the past. Please talk to your child about what your childhood was like.

Week 3
The children have had a busy week this week. In history, the children have shared their favourite memories, in science, they have labelled features of a mammal and compared mammals and birds. In English, the children have shown their acting skills while reenacting Little Red Riding Hood and they have created brilliant story maps.

Week 2
The children are settling in to the routines of Year 1/2 really well. Each day is jam packed with learning. It was so lovely to meet so many of the parents this week in our welcome meetings.
This week we have been busy learning capital letters, counting, grouping animals, creating timelines and lots more.

Week 1
It was so wonderful to welcome the children on Tuesday, they have come in, smartly dressed in their uniform and have really settled into their new classroom. This week we have spent time getting to know each other and reading ‘Super Duper You’. The children have been sharing what makes them super!
