Superbloom Project 2022
Our Superbloom Journey
Chosen as one of fifty-six schools with full partnership across England, we worked together with many organisations connected with the Royal Historic Palaces for the Tower of Superbloom Project. All children across our school have participated in the design, seed planting, nurturing, digging and preparing of the ground in preparation of our own ‘bloom’.
Working with an artist, we learnt about the importance of flowers and wildlife and then produced 3D flowers and bees. We were then chosen, as one of four schools in England, to make a short film. Our children were so excited. They were interviewed and filmed answering questions and the final video was shown on the local news. Next came the amazing finale, when we were invited to the ‘Tower of London’ for a presentation day with thirty of our children.
After an early 5:30aм start with a train to London, which was a first for many of our children, and then the tube, we were finally there. We were welcomed like royalty. Our children experienced the mega slide entrance and the spectacular Superbloom around the moat. They met Beefeaters, watched the Queen’s Guards, visited the Crown Jewels, learnt about our Royal history and attended a presentation where many pieces of our art and work at school was on view for all to see. The chief Beefeater then presented our children with a commendation plaque for our school to keep.
Exhausted, excited and elated, we made our journey safely home, with memories we will hold in our hearts forever.
