โ€˜A Stepping Stone into the Futureโ€™

Summer Term B

Summer 2 Week 6

We thoroughly enjoyed listening to The Whalesโ€™ Song story and we were inspired by the wonderful illustrations to use watercolours to paint whales and seascapes. We even listened to whale sounds for added inspiration! We had a whale of a time! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‹

We had a great day for our Key Stage 1 Sports Day - it has been lovely to welcome parents back into school for this event. A super effort from all of the children! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ…

Summer 2 Week 5

We had a great time during our Key Stage 1 Outdoor Open Morning. We had an excellent turnout with lots of families attending to support their children and find out what we do in Bushcraft! Many thanks to all of our parents who were able to come along. The children were son

Summer 2 Week 4

Well done to this weekโ€™s Achievers: Ellie-Jo, Jenson, Damian, Octavia and Amelia W! Weโ€™re sure their families will be proud of their achievements ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒŸ

Our wonderful performers took to the stage to receive a final round of applause ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

On Friday we had one of the most highly anticipated events of the school year - The West Denton Talent Show! As anticipated, there was singing, dancing, rap, gymnastics, magic tricks and even ventriloquism! It showed off some of the amazing talents of the children. We were so proud of our entries, Charlie & Ellie-Jo and Damian & Hassan. ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽค๐Ÿค˜

During this weekโ€™s Bushcraft session, we had the opportunity to make our own Worry Doll which we would be able to take home. They can be useful to share small worries with. We had lots of fun creating our own designs!

We practised building our shelters from Lego to see which designs would work well for the beach ๐Ÿ–โ˜€๏ธ

We had fun designing a suitable shelter for the beach! We accepted this design challenge and had to think about materials that would be waterproof and that would provide shade. We needed a design that would be easy to assemble and take home when finished, but one that would provide some protection from sun, wind and rain.

Summer 2 Week 3

We had fun in Science designing and making an umbrella. We had to think carefully about the materials we used as it needed to be waterproof! We enjoyed testing our umbrellas to check they wouldnโ€™t leak in the rain... ๐Ÿ˜Šโ˜”๏ธ

Summer 2 Week 2

Congratulations to our Children who received an Achievers Award this week. Well done to Octavia, Isla, Malik, Seren and Leo. Amelia J was presented with the Headteacher’s Award from Mr MingStones! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒŸ

We made our own mini sculptures of our partner using clay. We learned how to shape the clay and fix two pieces together.

We took inspiration from our surroundings. We played a fun game where we had to make ourselves into a sculpture in groups! Can you guess which sculptures were the football, boat, car and sandwich?!

We had a wonderful trip to the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle. The building was really beautiful. We had lots of fun learning about sculpture!

Summer 2 Week 1

We learned about fractions and had to find different ways of making a quarter by using squares on a grid.
