Week 5

In the final week of the term the children have enjoyed learning about the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.  In English we have written a fact file about the Queen. In History the children have completed a timeline of her life and ordered the Jubilees that have taken place since she became Queen.   On Thursday the class made their own crowns and flags ready for the whole school picnic on the field.

Week 4

In class this week the children have been learning how to share into equal groups in Maths.  In English we have been describing the Gruffalo using adjectives.  In Geography we have continued to explore Africa and America.  The children have been learning new positions in our Yoga sessions in P.E. The class enjoyed their weekly Bush Craft session with Mrs McHatton. We have continued to work hard in RWI and remember all our sounds. In computing the class enjoyed playing the games on Phonics Play.

Week 3

In class this week the children have written letters from Jack and the Giant as well as writing their own Jack and the Beanstalk story.

In Maths we have been learning how to make arrays using rows and columns to understand multiplication.  The children had the opportunity to see the chicks from the reception class and even hold them.  In P.E we have continued to learn poses in Yoga. In computing the children have been accessing Phonics Play to brush up on their RWI sounds, sorting out real and fake words. In Geography we have looked at Australia, including the wildlife and famous landmarks.

Week 2

In class this week the children have continued to write about the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.  They have written the main events in the story.  In Maths we have been learning to count and add in tens, moving onto multiplication.  The class enjoyed watching the Rock Steady performance on Wednesday and had a lot of fun in the Bush Craft area with Mrs McHatton. Our new unit in P.E is Yoga and the class had fun learning some poses on the mats in the hall.  In our topic of Around the World the class enjoyed exploring China and on Thursday they had a go at writing numbers in Chinese.

Week 1

The children have come back school refreshed and ready to learn.  In English we have been reading Jack and the Beanstalk. The children have created their own story maps and described the giant. In Maths we have recapped number bonds up to 10 and found the missing numbers to make a given number.  In the afternoon our new Geography topic is Around the World. This week the class have learnt where France is within Europe.  They enjoyed saying hello, goodbye, my name is and counting in French to 10.  The children looked incredibly smart when they came to have their photograph taken.
