‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Spring Term B

Week 4

We're Going on an Egg Hunt

Lots of egg-citing Easter themed learning this week.  Reception went on Easter egg hunt, made chocolate nests, decorated eggs and made cards to send to loved ones.  Happy Easter Everyone!

Week 3  Self Isolation Home Learning

 On the Farm

Our home learning challenges had a farm theme this week.  We learned about jobs on a farm, matched mother and baby animals and learned about animal homes.  In Maths we worked out number bonds to 10 and take away number sentences.

Week 2

Farmer Duck

This week we listened to the story of poor "Farmer Duck" by Martin Waddell. He works hard on a farm all day and all night, while the Lazy Farmer lies in bed and eats chocolate. However, by the end of the story the Lazy Farmer gets his comeuppance when the other farm animals decide to teach him a lesson!  Taking inspiration from the story of Farmer Duck we designed our own farm, created pictures of farm animals, wrote a 'plan' to help Farmer Duck and took part in a Barnyard Boogie dance.

Welcome Back Everyone!

Week 1

 Six Dinner Sid

It was so nice to welcome everyone back to school this week and see their smiling faces.  The children have come back with a great attitude and have worked really hard all week.  Reception listened to "Six Dinner Sid" by Inga Moore.  It is a fabulous story about a sly cat who manages to get six dinners a day!  We made lost cat and 'how to care for ... ' pet shop posters.  In Mathematics we have been counting in tens.  Below are some of our favourite songs to try at home:

Lockdown Week 8

 Gigantosaurus

To celebrate World Book Day we listened to "Gigantosaurus" by Jonny Duddle.  Our book challenges were to get creative and make a bookmark, build a reading den and cosy up to read, get crafty and make a mask of your favourite book character and read in an unusual place. We also made erupting volcanoes, salt dough fossils and joined in with the dance Dinosaur Stomp!

Lockdown Week 7

 How I Became a Pirate

Ahoy me hearties!  We listened to the story "How I Became a Pirate" by Melinda Long and have had lots of fun learning about pirates.  We made our own pirate hats, danced with the crew, designed a flag and helped to count and add treasure.
