‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Autumn Term B

Week 4

This week our children have been continuing with their life skill element of practising how to use a bow saw safely and then putting together their snowmen.  They also gathered the kindling needed to make a successful fire and ordered it in size.

Week 3

This week we have been working on our ‘Service to Others’ life skills element by moving chippings to the Nursery outdoor area to fill up their shelter floor to ensure it’s safe for the younger children.  They have also been weeding in the allotments and edible garden, as well as moving and putting mulch around our fruit tree bases to replace nutrients they need.  Finally, they have been continuing to practise the skill of using a bow saw safely.

Week 2

This week our children have been learning how to use a bow saw safely and have been practising their new skill.  They have also been working on their ‘Service to Others’ element of their life skills award.  We moved bark chipping to make the paths safe in the bushcraft area for winter as well as working in our allotments.

Week 1

Our children have been so busy today, they have been working towards their Life Skills Challenge Award.  As part of ‘Service to Others’ they have been using a spade, buckets and wheel barrows to move bark chippings to the bushcraft area to make the paths safe for the winter months.  Then they built dens, explored and created their own games. We practised our fire safety skills and then enjoyed a hot chocolate and biscuit treat.
