‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Spring Term A

Week 6

This week the children have enjoyed some fantastic visitors. Mr Ross from the Newcastle Reformed Synagogue came into school to talk to us about Jewish life. We are able to see lots of artefacts and even enjoyed tasting some Matzo.

We also enjoyed our visit from Rock Steady Music. He showed us how to play the drums, guitar and keyboard. It was great fun!

Week 5

The children thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Pizza Express on Tuesday. They shaped their dough, spread on the tomato sauce and sprinkled on the mozzarella. They enjoyed tasting red onion, mushrooms, black olives, mozzarella and basil. The children were really well behaved and made the staff very proud. We hope they shared their pizza with you and you enjoyed it.

They have also begun learning about Judaism and enjoyed making a Star of David out of lolly sticks.

Week 4

The children were delighted to see that their cress seeds had grown so well. They have taken their cress home now to enjoy with you all.
They were fascinated to see how the cress seeds, in different conditions, had grown.

Week 3

This week the children have continued working on column subtraction and they are really enjoying using Rock Stars Timetables, please encourage them to use it at home.
We have begun our science unit and have planted cress in different conditions.

Week 2

The children have enjoyed researching facts, on the ipads, about famous London landmarks ready to write their own non-chronological report. They have been practicing the grammar rules for changing verbs from the present tense to the past tense. They have learnt the word is called the root word and the ending is called the suffix.

In maths this week the children have worked hard learning how to use column addition and column subtraction.

Week 1

Happy New Year!

The children have settled back into the new school term and have already had a busy week.

We have been learning about the features of a non-chronological report.

In Geography we have been learning about the continents and the United Kingdom. We have learnt a song to help us remember the continents. We also enjoyed playing our own version of a Beetle Drive - Continent roll.
