‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Summer Term B

Week 7

 Teddy Bears Picnic

This week we had a Teddy Bears Picnic party day at Nursery! We had party games, a disco and a bouncy castle all finished off by having a lovely picnic in the sunshine which the children had helped to plan and prepare. As you can see it was smiles all round - we had lots of fun!

 Nursery Graduation

What a proud moment watching our Nursery children graduate.  We are unbelievably proud of the resilience, hard work and progress they made this year despite HUGE disruption.  We have enjoyed sharing your learning journey and all staff wish you a happy and safe summer holiday.  Well done!

Week 5 and 6 Isolation Home Learning

 Commotion in the Ocean

Nursery have been listening to the story "Commotion in the Ocean" by Giles Andreae and learning about different types of sea creatures.  Our home learning challenges included junk model aquariums, seaside phonics, sea animal yoga, tin foil boats, sea animal shape pictures, fish counting and addition.

Week 4

 Forest Fairies and Jiggly Jellyfish

Our challenge in bushcraft this week was to search around the woods to find hidden fairy doors.  We spotted numbers on the doors and put them in the correct order.  Nursery helped to keep the magical woodland area tidy by finishing with a litter pick.

Nursery watched jellyfish float around an aquarium, they were mesmerising!  We made jiggly jellyfish crafts with wobbly bodies and long tentacles to hang in our class window.

Week 3

 Marvelous Mini-beasts!

We have been creating mini-beasts using playdough and various collage materials.  This activity was fantastic for fine motor skills, creativity, imagination skills and also for learning about insects and bugs.

Nursery worked in teams to play the fun board game 'Incey Wincey Spider'.  We practised recognising and counting dots on a dice.   The spiders were moved up and down the drain pipe as the children took turns to play.

Week 2

Mini-beast Hunt

Nursery had an amazing time on a mini-beast hunt! They all looked incredibly hard and found lots of different mini-beasts in our bushcraft garden.  Who knew it was such a haven for wildlife?  We used loose parts in the tinker trays to create our own works of art.  Making cube creations has been a popular activity this week.  Check out our fantastic models!

Week 1

 The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Nursery have enjoyed reading 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle.  We taste tested different fruits from the story and as part of our funky finger challenge created a long paper chain caterpillar.
