‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Autumn Term B

Merry Christmas!

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas with your families. We will see you back at school on Monday the 9th January.

Week 4

This week we have been looking at Myths and Legends, focusing on the Ancient Greek Gods. Year 6 wrote a lovely letter from the perspective of Hades apologising for taking Demeter’s daughter and that’s why they believed we have the seasons. In Science we’ve been looking at the Earth, sun and moon and finding the scientific reason why we have seasons. We’ve also been looking at timelines around the world.

Week 3

In maths we have started fractions, looking at equivalent and simplifying in particular. Those of us that weren’t at Robinwood enjoyed a project called The Island where they had to design an island and plan how it was going to work. They then had to make a brochure for their island, persuading people to come.

Week 2

This week we have continued with division in maths and started looking at order of operation with BODMAS. We encourage you to ask your child what it means. We have also been hammering timetables so that the children have more confidence in their ability and are able to apply it to maths problems. In English we have been analysing William Blake poems and looking at how they fit in to our class book Skellig. We have also enjoyed a whole school assembly today, remembering those who fought in the war and gave their life so we could have our freedom.

Week 1

We started the half term with division in maths and looking at spreadsheets in computing.
