‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Spring Term A

Week 6

 Junk Modelling

Nursery have been using recycling materials to create models.  They looked at pictures of models to give them some ideas of what they could make adding their own ideas as they worked. The adult supported them as they worked hard using scissors, hole punch, tape and glue to assemble and join their materials.

Week 5

Chinese New Year

What a fantastic week we have had in Nursery celebrating Chinese New Year. The year of the Tiger!  The children have developed their fine-motor skills using scissors to make a Chinese lantern.  They have used pens to colour and make a dancing dragon.  We painted lanterns and copied Chinese writing.  Most of the children enjoyed tasting some Chinese food and had fun trying out the tricky chopsticks.

The children made their own instruments to accompany the song.

Week 4

Fruit Salad

Nursery listened to the story "Oliver's Fruit Salad" and "Handa's Surprise".  We then helped to peel, chop and mix to make our very own fruit salad.

Week 3

Collage Food and Making Pizzas

The children had lots of fun making food using collage resources.  They made spaghetti bolognese, pizza and delicious doughnuts.

We also played a pizza game with the dice to add the correct number of toppings.  Nursery then made their own pizza toast with all of their favourite toppings on.

Week 2

The Little Red Hen

This week we made some bread buns after following the story of "The Little Ren Hen".  The children explored textures and changing materials as they made the dough.

Week1

Cafe Role Play

The children helped to set up a healthy eating cafe in the Nursery kitchen. They took it in turns to serve the customers and buy the food!
