‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Autumn Term B

Week 7

And that's a rap! In this final week of term, the children have made Christmas cards and calendars and joined in various Christmas activities. On behalf of Year 4 we'd like to wish you all a merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you all nice and refreshed in the new year.

Week 6

What a show! Thank you to all parents who came to see their child in our Christmas performance. I hope you'll agree that the children were all fantastic.

Santa has arrived at West Denton Primary School! The children have enjoyed greeting Santa and to keep them warm, they each were given a hot chocolate while we sang Christmas carols around the campfire. We've also been doing some Andy Warhol pop art which we will be displaying in our classroom.

Week 5

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Our tree is up and we are all starting to feel festive. The children had the pleasure of watching the pantomime 'Dick Whittington' in our hall performed by an external theatre company. We've also been making pom-pom snowflakes to go on the Christmas tree at the Holy Spirit Church. In English we've been creating our own poems based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Week 4

Year 4 have had a very busy week this week. We have been doing symmetry in maths, visited Cragside and practiced our compass reading skills, planted trees and more Christmas play rehersals.

Week 3

We have been rehearsing for our up and coming Christmas play this week. The Children have been working really hard learning their lines and songs. They can't wait for you to see it. We have also been making Christmas stars during Bushcraft with Mrs McHatton. These will be brought home in time for Christmas.

Week 2

We cooked potato and carrot rostis today, and also made an apple and blackberry crumble using the fruit and vegetables we harvested from our allotment before the end of half term. The children enjoyed making and tasting the food.

Week 1

We welcomed the children back to school today and created some wonderful poems about fireworks.
