‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Spring Term B

Week 6

Wishing you all a very happy Easter.

Check out our amazing decorated eggs.

We celebrated our Spanish Day by cooking traditional Spanish treats with Señora Perez and playing an exciting game of football with Barcelona vs Madrid.

Week 5

The children have been learning about Mayan art and culture and designed their own Mayan masks.
We were delighted to welcome back the cyclists from their trip to Holland. In Literacy, we have been writing the story of Titanium based on the music video and our writing is amazing! Please enjoy reading our work. We also had a visit from Sam at Rocksteady Music who gave a brilliant assembly, teaching us about different electric instruments. Mrs Singleton even had to play the keyboard!

Welcome Back Cyclists!

Week 4

The year 5’s have enjoyed doing bikeability today. They have practised their emergency stops and turning, before going out on the road. Well done!

Week 3

We have been completely inspired this week with art. John Quinn worked with the children on Monday morning and invited the children to look at what we normally take for granted differently. From the hall we went into the bushcraft area and did some more sketches and jottings.

On Thursday morning, we went to see the Angel of the North and many of the children had not seen it up close before. The children took lots of photographs from different angles and sketched the angel using viewfinders. From the angel, we traveled to Saltwell Park where the children were once again inspired by trees.

Wow! Where did that week go?

Have a lovely weekend!

Week 2

This week we have been studying The Highwayman and thinking about fact and opinion. Year 5 took part in the O.W.L.T. Athletics event at Newburn, well done to all who participated and we even had some medal winners! Year 6 enjoyed a very competitive game of bench ball.

Week 1

World Book Day celebrations. This week we celebrated our love of books by reading lots of short picture books and visiting our newly stocked library. The children all chose a book to take home to read and we dressed as our favourite book characters.
