Find out what we have been up to ...

Class of 2021

On Tuesday we managed to have a lovely ceremony for our Year 6 leavers on the school field. It was such a shame parents couldn’t come due to COVID restrictions, so we took lots of photos to share with you. It was quite an emotional but heartwarming day. Please also see the Class of 2021 video below.

Children's Mental Health Week 2021

This week we are delighted to be celebrating Children's Mental Health Week. This year's theme is 'Express Yourself', which is about finding creative ways of expressing your thoughts and feelings.

We would like to invite you to watch the virtual assembly all about Children's Mental Health week, brought to you by Oak National Academy.

To go alongside the theme of 'Expressing Yourself, I would love you to watch the video of me reading, 'What Wesley Wore' by Samuel Langley-Swain and Ryan Sonderegger; a wonderful story about acceptance and being who you want to be. You will find this in the Video Resource Centre of the website or by following the link below.

Attached below is a list of fun activities. As it is Children's Mental Health Week, we would like you to choose something from the list of  fun activities to do every day. Please share your photos and videos with us, we love seeing the things you get up to at home. Have fun and enjoy some time away from your devices every day.

On Friday 5th February we would love you to dress up in your craziest and boldest outfit, just like Wesley. Can you express yourself just like Wesley? Please send us your photos on Seesaw, we can't wait to see how wacky you all look!

Monday 4th January 2021. Phase 3 home-school announcement.

Dear children,

We would like to wish you and your families all a happy new year. We hope that you have all had a wonderful Christmas time with your families and enjoying your gifts. We are sorry that the new term has not started in the way we had wanted it to. Your teachers have posted all of your online lessons for the forthcoming week on Seesaw. You must treat your time off school as if you were back in the classroom – we cannot lose any more precious learning time. Aim to begin your day at 9 am and spend half an hour on Reading Plus. Begin the rest of your lessons at 9.30, spending an hour on each. You have Maths, English, PSHE and an afternoon activity, which you must choose from the list. Don’t forget that you also have access to Times Tables Rock Stars and Mathletics, which are great resources. Remember to post your work as soon as you have done it and if you are using a pen and paper, send a photo. You can either upload it to Seesaw or send it to us via email. If you have any questions or need help with anything send us a message and we will get back to you as quickly as we can. You can message on Seesaw or via our email:

sarah.singleton@westdenton.newcastle.sch.uk

rachael.croll@westdenton.newcastle.sch.uk

nick.shiel@westdenton.newcastle.sch.uk

We look forward to seeing all of your posts and we hope that we can all get back into the classroom sooner rather than later.
