‘A Stepping Stone into the Future’

Autumn Term A

What a fabulous first half term we have had at Nursery.  Have a look at the lovely games, activities and fun we have shared.

Exploring Pumpkins

Nursery have been investigating the inside of a pumpkin.  We have talked about how they feel inside and out, how they look and smell.  The children used their fine motor skills and coordination to hammer the golf tees into the pumpkin.

 Numbers

The children have shown the grown ups how super they are at counting.  They have been counting in rote to 15 using Pirate Pete, counting objects to 10 by pointing with their finger and identifying which numerals they recognise.  Mrs Hughes has introduced them to Ten Town and have looked at King One, Tommy Two and Thelma Three.

 Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Nursery listened to the story "Goldilocks and the Three Bears".  The children enjoyed activities linked to the story.  They made bear ears on a hairband and Goldilocks hair to wear at the cut and stick table.  They made up their own versions of the story using finger puppets, props and masks.  They painted bear faces and coloured pictures at the drawing table.

Our First Week in Nursery

We are so proud of how well the children have settled into class.  It has been lovely spending time with them and getting to know them.  Here are some photos during our first few days at Nursery.  We've had lots of fun.

Welcome to West Denton Primary School

We will share snapshots of our learning here across the year.  During induction visits the Nursery children have been learning routines and how to use the classroom equipment.  They explored the indoor and outdoor environments, stayed for lunch and have been making new friends.
